Yvette Mehalovitz

Graduate Student Intern

I am a graduate student intern currently pursuing my M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Adams State University. I hold a B.A. in Psychology and Sociology from Western Colorado University, where I developed a strong foundation in understanding human behavior through both individual and societal perspectives.  My clinical approach is rooted primarily in person-centered and existential therapy, emphasizing the creation of an empathetic, nonjudgmental, and collaborative environment.  Incorporating mindfulness to help clients develop present-moment awareness, self-compassion, and emotional regulation skills is one of my priorities. Personally, I find balance through yoga, quality time with loved ones, and caring for my growing collection of houseplants, activities that deepen my appreciation for holistic well-being and the mind-body connection. I also enjoy fishing, biking, and hiking!  I look forward to understanding your story and supporting you on your path toward resilience and positivity.

Insurances I Accept:

Aetna, CHP+, Cigna, and Medicaid

How I Work:

I am deeply committed to supporting clients from diverse cultural backgrounds and unique life experiences, recognizing the rich complexity that each individual brings to the counseling process.   I believe that through a genuine therapeutic relationship, clients can explore meaning, purpose, and personal growth while navigating life’s challenges.   I bring a trauma-informed and culturally responsive perspective to my work, ensuring that each client feels respected and understood within the broader context of their identity and experiences.  My goal is to create a supportive and open-minded space where you feel empowered to make meaningful changes, embrace growth, and experience healing and transformation.
